E-Book Ch. 5
March 31, 2016
Church and ministry leaders excel at planning activities, programs and events, but somehow copyright clearances are often not included in their plans.
Honoring copyrights and avoiding the risks of infringement takes intention, planning and preparation. Making sure all your music licensing requirements are covered is a process, and it usually takes time to turn the ship and get everyone on board. Chapter 5 in our eBook, “SOLVE THE PUZZLE OF COPYRIGHTS” provides the guidelines of our tested P.L.A.N. four-part strategy, you will be able to develop practices that help your organization become copyright compliant. In this chapter, you will learn how to plan and budget for copyright licensing, implement policies and procedures for your church or ministry staff and educate, train and direct your employees or team members on copyright issues.
If you’ve recently finished obtaining licenses for one of your church’s special holiday programs, like Christmas or Easter, you understand just how complex, confusing and time consuming it can be. Now is the perfect time to create YOUR PLAN for copyright compliance. I like to use a simple acronym, P.L.A.N. as a guideline for planning.
The right formula for compliance starts with your organization’s leaders implementing POLICIES, PROCEDURES and PLANNING for employees and ministry departments. It’s important to note that copyright compliance is a process, and it takes time to turn the ship. It does need to start from the top down to set the bar for compliance so the senior leaders and staff can reach the goal of honoring copyrights together.
