Juice Wrld Hit With a $15 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Over ‘Lucid Dreams’
DIGITAL MUSIC WORLD: On Monday (October 21st), early 2000s emo rock band Yellowcard filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in a California U.S. District Court against Juice Wrld. The members of Yellowcard are alleging that the rapper used the melody and other elements from their 2006 song “Holly Wood Died” in his hit song “Lucid Dreams,” and are suing for $15 million. CASE Act Passes US House of Representatives
BILLBOARD: The bill intending to streamline copyright disputes now heads to the Senate. The Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act passed 410-6 in the U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday evening (Oct. 22). Copyright Alliance Applauds House Passage of the CASE Act
COPYRIGHT ALLIANCE: The Copyright Alliance applauded this evening’s passage of the CASE Act (H.R. 2426) by the House of Representatives, by a vote of 410-6. According to Copyright Alliance CEO Keith Kupferschmid, “Today’s vote by the House further attests to the tremendous support that’s been demonstrated for the CASE Act, legislation that will provide U.S. creators with a viable means for defending their copyrighted works through the creation of a small claims tribunal within the U.S. Copyright Office.
