Apple Moves to Dismiss Copyright Suit Against AppleTV+ Show 

LAW STREET: Defendant Apple, joined by production studios and staff, has filed a motion to dismiss a copyright lawsuit filed by Francesca Gregorini, a film director who alleged that the AppleTV+ series Servant infringed upon her copyright in her film The Truth About Emmanuel. The defendants argued that Servant is not “substantially similar” to Gregorini’s film. READ MORE…

Music Licensing Startup Syncfloor, Co-Founded by 20 year Microsoft Veteran, Secures $200,000 Investment 

MUSIC BUSINESS WORLDWIDE: Seattle-based music licensing startup SyncFloor, co-founded by 20 year Microsoft veteran Kirt Debique (pictured) and veteran IP attorney Cestjon McFarland has been accepted as part of Betaworks Audiocamp program. Betaworks is a New York-based startup studio and seed stage venture capital company. In addition to extensive mentoring and support, SyncFloor will receive $200,000 in funding. READ MORE… 

Copyright Office Fee Schedule 

COPYRIGHT.GOV: The Copyright Office is adopting a new fee schedule for services in the following areas: registration, recordation, record retrieval, search and certification, the Licensing Division, and other services. Congress authorized the Register to set and adjust Copyright Office fees that are fair, equitable, and give due consideration to the objectives of the copyright system. READ MORE…
