Eight Ideas for Fall Outreach

September 21, 2021

With the kids back in school, cooler temperatures, and a return to routines, Fall is the perfect season to get creative with church programming.  Football watch parties, outdoor movies and concerts, family fellowship nights, fall festivals, and holiday bazaars – the opportunities to welcome new community members and strengthen church member relationships are endless.

Are you looking for a little something different? We’ve got 8 ideas!

Book Study & Yoga

The past year has seen a rise in anxiety and worry. What about offering a yoga class set to worship music to help learn relaxation techniques? Bonus points if you can incorporate a faith-based book on dealing with difficult times and stressors.

Teacher Breakfast

Use the new school year as an opportunity to minister to teachers, administrators, and staff. Could be as simple as dropping on donuts and coffee one morning at your local school. Include a blessing from your pastor or priest.

Small Groups

Fall programming typically skews towards children and youth. But a large portion of your congregation may be looking for ways to fill their spiritual bucket, and small groups are a great way to do that. Offer classes for singles, married, parents, empty nesters – the list goes on! By incorporating music into these you can really set the tone for the meetings.

Service Saturday

Pick a Saturday for your church to get out and serve. Choose various projects throughout your community or volunteer for an existing one. Don’t forget to get shirts designed, so you are visible when out and about volunteering!

Touchdown Tailgating Party

Every community has its hometown team. Host a tailgating party for “the big game.” Your church can provide the main dish and beverages, then create a sign-up for church members to bring the sides and desserts. Hype music is a must!

Social Media Seminars

Offer practical training to parents on understanding the ever-changing world of social media. Invite your local police chief or a social media expert to speak to hot topics, trends, and dangers relating to social media. Do the same type of class for teens.

Fall Festival/Oktoberfest

You can create a celebration as simple or elaborate as you want. Pumpkin painting, carnival games, hayrides, and of course, music. Get your youth group on board to help operate the stations.

Play Ball

Ok – not really, but if you want your church more involved in the community, go where the community is! Staff the concession stand at local soccer, baseball, or football games. Make sure you are wearing a shirt with your church name and invite parents and spectators to attend a service.

Many of these events and programs may be significantly enhanced using music. CCS covers an unmatched variety of live and pre-recorded music for use throughout your facilities. Covered activities include holiday celebrations, fundraisers, youth gatherings, social outreach events, conferences, seminars, concerts, and more.

Fall truly does offer endless possibilities when it comes to outreach. Make sure you are advertising your events via social media, text messages, and the church bulletin to include the entire community. Before you do though, make sure you have a plan to identify any use of copyrighted material.
