The Weeknd Fails to Reduce Copyright Infringement Lawsuit on ‘A Lonely Night’ 

DIGITAL MUSIC NEWS: A California federal court has denied a request by The Weeknd to reduce the scope of a copyright infringement lawsuit brought against him by three British songwriters who believe his song “A Lonely Night” plagiarizes theirs. The suit was filed by Brian Clover, Scott McCulloch and Billy Smith, who claim The Weeknd copied their 2005 song “I Need To Love.” READ MORE…

Court orders Romanian airline to pay EUR 63,000 in copyright for music aired on board of planes 

ROMANIA INSIDER: A local court has ordered Blue Air, the largest Romania air carrier and the second largest player on the local market after Hungarian rival Wizz Air, to pay RON 300,000 (EUR 63,157) to the Romanian Composers and Musicians Union (UCMR) as copyright for the music it airs on board of its planes, Profit.ro reported. READ MORE…
