Fall Fellowship & Outreach

October 10, 2019

Now that the kids are officially “Back to School,” and we’re full-fledged back in our daily routines, Fall is the perfect season to get creative with events and offerings that support church fellowship and fun.

Football viewing parties, youth lock-ins, outdoor movie nights, concerts, family fellowship nights, fall festivals, and holiday bazaars – the opportunities are endless to welcome new community members and strengthen church member relationships.

Are you looking for a place to start? We’ve compiled some fresh ideas from around the web, added a few of our own, and hope you find a few your ministry can use!

Small Groups

Fall programming typically skews towards children and youth. But a large portion of your congregation may be looking for ways to fill their spiritual bucket, and small groups are a great way to do that. Offer a class for young singles, young married, young parents, empty nesters – the list goes on and on!

Service Day

Pick a Saturday that your church can get out into the community and serve. Choose various projects throughout your city or town and split up into groups, letting people pick projects that best fit their talents. Get shirts designed, so you are visible when out and about volunteering!

Touchdown Tailgating Party

Every community has a favorite hometown team, be it college or high school. Host a tailgating party for “the big game.” Your church can provide the main dish and beverages, then create a sign-up for church members to bring the sides and desserts.

 Social Media Parent Seminars

Offer practical training to parents on understanding the ever-changing world of social media. Invite your local police chief or social media expert to speak to hot topics, trends, and dangers relating to social media. Open it up to the entire community and offer advice on how to approach the subject with kids.

Fall Festival/Oktoberfest

You can create a celebration as simple or elaborate as you want. Pumpkin painting, carnival games, jump houses, and of course, food. Get your youth group on board to help operate the stations.

Play Ball

Ok – not really, but if you want your church more involved in the community, go where the community is! Staff the concession stand at local soccer, baseball, or football games. Make sure you are wearing a shirt with your church name and invite parents and spectators to attend a service.

Many of these events and programs may be significantly enhanced using music, videos, and other copyrighted material. It’s easy to overlook necessary music licensing, so it’s essential to have a plan to identify any use of copyrighted material. There’s an easy way to find out how your church scores when it comes to copyright compliance with CCS’s Copyright Quiz. This FREE online tool takes just five minutes!

Fall truly does offer endless possibilities when it comes to outreach. Make sure you are advertising your events via social media as well as the church bulletin to include the entire community. And if you have any copyright or licensing questions, contact one of our copyright consultants.
