Ariana Grande sued for copyright infringement over ‘7 Rings’ 

FOX NEWS: Ariana Grande is headed to court. The “Thank U, Next” singer and Universal Music Corp. are being sued by hip-hop artist DOT for ripping off the chorus of his song in her hit “7 Rings.” DOT, whose real name is Josh Stone, claims that his song “You Need I Got It,” released in 2017, was infringed upon by the 26-year-old pop star. READ MORE… 

Ed Sheeran Ordered to Disclose Concert Income for Copyright Lawsuit 

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: A judge rejects the argument that an ASCAP license legitimized performance of “Thinking Out Loud.” Does Ed Sheeran have an absolute right to perform “Thinking Out Loud” at concert? Depending on the outcome of a copyright lawsuit, he very well may lack such right to perform one of his biggest hits, according to a decision Wednesday from a New York federal court. READ MORE… 

Yellowcard’s $15 Million Lawsuit Against Juice WRLD Will Resume In February 

DIGITAL MUSIC NEWS: Yellowcard’s aggressive copyright infringement lawsuit against Juice WRLD, who passed away last year, is slated to resume on February 4th. The lawsuit, which claims that Juice WRLD’s smash hit “Lucid Dreams” copied Yellowcard’s “Holly Wood Died,” was filed prior to the rapper’s shocking death. YouTubers face £4,600 bill over copyright claims 

BBC NEWS: Two YouTubers have been told to pay $6,000 (£4,600) or risk losing their YouTube channel completely. MxR and Potastic Panda are known for making videos where they react to memes and other online content. But it turns out four videos they watched have been bought up by a media company, which has slapped them with a bill for infringing its copyright. READ MORE…
