Spotify Responds To Malware Infested Ad Complaints
FROM HYPEBOT.COM: Multiple Spotify users are reporting that the Spotify Free app is delivering malware infested ads that launch an uncontrollable series of malware and virus infested sites.
UPDATE FROM SPOTIFY: “A small number of users have experienced a problem with questionable website pop-ups in their default browsers as a result of an isolated issue with an ad on our free tier. We have identified the source of the problem and have shut it down. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
The malware appears to be an issue for users with Windows 10, Mas iOs and Ubuntu operating system. Now, Spotify has responded. READ MORE…
The Remix Wars: Originality in the Age of Digital Reproduction
BY RICH HARDY: In early July of 2016 a video appeared on Vimeo entitled The Was. The 13-minute film was credited as a collaboration between plunderphonics group The Avalanches and video artists Soda_Jerk. Due to the monumental volume of video and audio samples the piece contained it was no surprise to see it taken down pretty quickly due to a copyright complaint, but it was already too late. The film had taken on a life of its own being shared around Reddit and bouncing around the internet from mirror to mirror. It was out there. READ MORE…
