Performance Licensing for Your Easter Programs
March 12, 2021
We are less than a month out from what is often considered the most important Christian holy day. Despite various meeting restrictions still in place, Easter 2021 offers churches an opportunity for outreach and celebration.
Typically known for events, programs, and activities, Easter can be one of the most challenging and exhausting times for music ministers and creative art directors. This year is no different, even though the celebrations certainly are! From socially distanced Easter egg hunts to drive in events – church leaders are thinking outside the box to help their churches celebrates the transformational message of the season.
While celebrations and events vary from church to church and state to state, one thing most of these events have in common is music! And now is the perfect time to address how to incorporate copyright clearances into your program planning. The beauty of it is, once this is done you and your team have the freedom to be as creative as you want.
With all the planning that goes into special events, holidays and celebrations it may be easy to forget to address copyright clearances and if your program is not a religious service, it isn’t exempt from requiring music licensing.
Performance Licensing Made Simple
The CCS PERFORMmusic Onsite Facilities Music License allows churches and non-profit ministries to legally play or perform more than 28 million songs from ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC for non-exempt activities such as Easter special programs, concerts, and events.
If you want to stream your programming on your church website, the WORSHIPcast Online Streaming Music License allows you to stream worship services, special events, and guest performances of these same 28 million songs, including secular Christmas music, on your website. This does NOT include pre-recorded music.
